HSE Manager – Lusaka, Zambia

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead health, safety and environmental initiatives across our group operations in Lusaka. The successful candidate will champion a proactive safety culture and ensure full regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement group‑wide HSE strategies, policies and standards.
• Lead risk assessments, hazard identification and mitigation activities.
• Monitor HSE performance through audits, inspections and KPIs.
• Conduct incident investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Oversee environmental compliance, waste management and sustainability projects.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness, business continuity and crisis response plans.
• Deliver HSE training programs and report to senior executives.

Required profile

• BSc in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science/Management, Engineering or related field (MSc a plus).
• 10+ years of HSE management experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership.
• Proven track record managing HSE systems across multiple business units.
• Strong knowledge of OHS legislation and international best practices.
• Experience in manufacturing, mining, construction, agriculture or energy is advantageous.

• Familiarity with IFC/World Bank ESS performance standards
