About the role
The Legal and Compliance Manager / Fund Secretary provides strategic legal advice and ensures regulatory compliance for a pension fund in Zambia. Reporting to senior management and the Board of Trustees, the role safeguards the fund’s operations within the legal, regulatory and ethical framework governing pension schemes.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee all legal and regulatory compliance functions for the fund.
- Support and maintain the governance framework of the Board of Trustees.
- Act as the primary legal advisor to Management and the Board.
- Develop, implement and enforce compliance policies and procedures.
- Ensure Board activities adhere to best practices in corporate governance.
- Provide board secretarial services, including meeting preparation and minute taking.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and coordinate with external regulators.
- Lead resource planning, budgeting and strategic execution for the legal and compliance function.
Required profile
- Grade 12 certificate with 5 O‑levels, credit in Mathematics and English.
- Bachelor’s degree in law or a related field.
- Admission to the Bar and membership of the Law Association of Zambia.
- Minimum 10 years post‑Bar experience in legal, compliance and governance roles, preferably within pensions, insurance or financial services.
- Proven experience supporting a Board or senior executive team.
