Senior Global Health Security Advisor (Zambia)

About the role

The Senior Global Health Security Advisor provides strategic leadership and technical expertise to strengthen Zambia’s public‑health security infrastructure and emergency‑preparedness capabilities. The advisor supports the Zambia National Public Health Institute and relevant government agencies in preventing, detecting, and responding to infectious‑disease threats that affect public health in Zambia and pose a risk to U.S. security.

Key responsibilities

• Embed technical expertise within national infectious‑disease programs to ensure long‑term, sustainable support.
• Coordinate, track, and implement the five‑year Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Zambia.
• Provide technical assistance across four cooperation areas: infectious‑disease surveillance, epidemic preparedness and response, laboratory systems, and data systems.
• Align humanitarian assistance activities with U.S. Presidential Executive Order directives.
• Facilitate coordination between U.S. Government entities and Zambian ministries to improve outbreak response.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in global health security, infectious‑disease programs, and public‑health emergency management.
• Proven ability to work with government ministries and multilateral partners.
• Strong strategic leadership and coordination skills.
• Familiarity with U.S. and Zambian health‑system frameworks.
