Artisan Boilermaker – Plant Maintenance & Fabrication

About the role

The Artisan Boilermaker will install, maintain and repair plant equipment at our Kalumbila site, ensuring safe and effective operations that meet quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural repairs, alterations and general fabrication on plant machinery.
• Execute welding tasks using oxy‑acetylene, gasless wires, aluminium, cast iron, silver soldering and brazing.
• Cut and shape metal with oxy‑acetylene torches and air‑arc gouging equipment.
• Read and interpret schematic drawings to carry out precise work.
• Conduct inspections to assess component reliability and support preventative maintenance.
• Provide feedback on job progress, issues and planned work to supervisors.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience in mining or heavy‑industry fabrication and welding.
• Relevant artisan certification in metal fabrication/welding.
• Grade 12 certificate and a crafts certificate in Metal Fabrication.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to work in a remote, geographically challenging environment.

Required skills

• Oxy‑acetylene cutting and lancing.
• Air‑arc gouging.
• Welding of aluminium, cast iron, steel using gas and gasless wires.
• Silver soldering and brazing.
• Reading and interpreting complex fabrication schematics.
• Heavy‑fabrication and bucket repair techniques.
