Metallurgist – Nickel Processing

About the role

The Metallurgist will provide metallurgical guidance and conduct production support test work for the nickel processing plant. The role focuses on delivering accurate metallurgical measurements, reporting KPIs daily and driving continuous improvement to meet production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, analyse and troubleshoot process issues, developing solutions for emergent problems and opportunities.
• Lead planning and execution of metallurgical projects to optimise plant performance.
• Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the nickel plant.
• Deliver timely and accurate sampling, analysis and reporting of metallurgical data.
• Develop operating methods, SOPs and provide technical support to the operations team.
• Monitor short‑term metallurgical events, optimise reagent addition rates and control consumption.
• Facilitate data acquisition, warehousing, accessibility and analytics.
• Identify and implement continuous‑improvement projects to reduce operational costs.

Required profile

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in mineral processing (nickel flotation and talc removal advantageous).
• Degree in extractive metallurgy, mineral processing or related field; G12 certificate required.
• Strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills; ability to work under pressure and multi‑task.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse cultures.
• Willingness to work shifts and adapt to various work areas (rigs, sampling facility, laboratory).
