Business Officer Intern – Insurance Brokerage

About the role

We are seeking a Business Officer Intern to join our insurance brokerage in Lusaka. This full‑time, on‑site internship offers hands‑on experience across finance, underwriting, claims, and client relations, providing a solid foundation in insurance broking and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with finance and admin tasks such as reconciliations, petty cash handling, credit control, and preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Support underwriting workflows, including processing applications and documentation.
• Participate in claims management, processing, and follow‑up activities.
• Help acquire new business and manage renewal placements.
• Contribute to marketing initiatives and maintain strong relationships with clients and insurers.
• Support office operations, compliance tasks, and liaison with auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Gather and analyse client information, prepare basic insurance and risk documentation, and maintain accurate records.

Required profile

• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Customer‑service orientation.
• Basic understanding of business processes and documentation.
• Ability to learn quickly, take initiative and work in a structured office environment.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Degree in Social Sciences, Business, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management or a related field.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
