Health and Nutrition Specialist

About the role

The Health and Nutrition Specialist provides technical leadership, quality assurance, and strategic oversight for integrated health and nutrition interventions. The role ensures delivery of evidence‑based services that comply with national IMAM guidelines, SPHERE standards, DG ECHO requirements and Ministry of Health protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight for CMAM/IMAM, MNCH/RMNCH, and primary health care interventions.
• Lead design, adaptation and contextualisation of protocols, SOPs and integration of nutrition, health, WASH and protection services.
• Oversee implementation at Mantapala Rural Health Centre, health posts and community platforms, ensuring functional OTP and inpatient services, 24/7 delivery where applicable and effective referral systems.
• Supervise and mentor health staff, nutrition teams and community health workers; conduct regular field monitoring visits.
• Design and deliver competency‑based training for health workers, volunteers and partner staff on IMAM protocols, clinical case management, nutrition screening, IPC and data use.
• Manage supply chain for essential medicines and nutrition commodities, including forecasting, procurement planning and stock monitoring.
• Ensure accurate data collection via DHIS2 and CMAM/IMAM databases, lead data analysis, programme reviews and learning cycles.
• Represent the organisation in health and nutrition cluster meetings, technical working groups and coordinate with MoH, UN agencies and local partners.
