Purchasing Lead

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Purchasing Lead to drive and optimise our procurement processes, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality goods and services while delivering best‑value outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate core and non‑core procurement activities to achieve cost‑effective, on‑time, quality‑compliant deliveries.
• Support supplier sourcing, evaluation, negotiation and performance management, monitoring key procurement KPIs.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, internal controls, legal requirements and vendor onboarding processes, maintaining accurate documentation.
• Act as a strategic procurement partner to internal stakeholders, advising on purchasing requirements, planning and budgeting.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities, drive continuous‑improvement initiatives and contribute to procurement strategy development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management or related field.
• CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply or equivalent.
• Membership of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in procurement, purchasing or supply‑chain management.
• Proven experience in supplier management, sourcing and contract negotiation.
• Strong knowledge of procurement principles, purchasing processes and inventory management.
• Good understanding of procurement compliance, internal controls and vendor onboarding.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
