Retail Security Officer

About the role

The Retail Security Officer will protect customers, staff and stock while maintaining a safe shopping environment. Working across varied shifts, you will act as a visible deterrent to theft and anti‑social behaviour and provide courteous customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence throughout the store.
• Conduct regular patrols of the premises to ensure safety.
• Monitor CCTV and other security equipment to detect suspicious activity.
• Carry out searches of individuals in line with company policy.
• Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, escalating to management or law enforcement when required.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports.
• Liaise with store management and staff on security concerns.
• Provide assistance and directions to customers, de‑escalating confrontational situations.

• Ability to act as a visible deterrent and maintain a professional demeanor.
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Capability to follow company policies and legal requirements.
