Assistant Mechanical Manager - Packing Plant

About the role

Dangote Industries Limited is looking for an Assistant Mechanical Manager for its cement packing plant. The role supports the Mechanical Manager in keeping the plant available for loading cement, covering maintenance, repair, fabrication and preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general and specialized mechanical maintenance, including preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance
• Perform fabrication, installation, repair and servicing of equipment and structures, interpreting mechanical drawings
• Install, remove bearings and overhaul gearboxes, and align motors, gearboxes and couplings
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime
• Maintain and update the preventive maintenance program and its master schedule
• Follow up on the availability of spares, tools and equipment and coordinate resources
• Establish and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Select materials-handling methods and equipment for efficient cement loading, and take part in project reviews and recovery planning
• Conduct risk and environmental impact assessments, enforce safety procedures and support plant safety initiatives
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Required profile

• Advanced crafts certificate or diploma in mechanical engineering, or equivalent
• At least 10 years of experience in maintenance repairs in a manufacturing industry
• At least 5 years in a cement plant, including maintaining packing plant equipment
• Basic knowledge of the cement production process
• Good relationship management skills

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of cement packing machines, their functions and procedures
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment accurately and quickly
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
