Laboratory Analyst

About the role

Alfred H Knight, an independent family-owned business with offices and laboratories worldwide, is looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join its team in Kitwe, Zambia. The analyst reports to the chemist and senior analyst and supports operations across all sections of the laboratory, including the analysis of various samples using current methods.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse samples using current methods, reporting to the chemist and senior analyst
• Create and update stock levels for all stock solutions on a monthly basis
• Take part in quality and safety issues
• Schedule planned maintenance of the machines with the Senior Analyst on a quarterly basis

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in classical and instrumental analytical chemistry, specifically in metals and minerals analysis and/or water analysis
• Diploma in a related chemical field, or equivalent experience
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and act as a team player across departments
• Customer service orientation

Required skills

• Good literacy and computer/LIMS skills
• Very good hands-on analytical skills
• Attention to detail and effective interpersonal skills
