Operations Manager – Food Manufacturing

About the role

A client of Black Pearl Consult is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to support the launch and day-to-day running of a new biscuit and bakery production facility in Kitwe, Zambia. The role suits professionals with hands-on experience managing food production lines and overseeing manufacturing in the bakery, snack food or FMCG sectors. It focuses on efficient factory operations, coordinated production teams, quality standards and meeting production targets, and lasts about two years with a view to extension.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily production operations so that processes run smoothly and efficiently
• Coordinate production schedules and ensure production targets are met
• Supervise production teams and support workforce training and development
• Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards
• Monitor operational performance and look for ways to improve efficiency
• Work closely with technical teams, production staff, maintenance and quality control teams
• Support equipment installation and commissioning during factory setup

Required profile

• Experience in food manufacturing environments such as biscuit production, bakery manufacturing or snack food processing
• Strong knowledge of industrial production processes and experience managing production teams in a factory
• Leadership skills, problem-solving ability and comfort in a fast-paced production environment
• Experience with large-scale bakery equipment or automated production lines is an advantage
