Compliance Officer

About the role

Suan Capital Ltd, an emerging alternative investment firm in Zambia, is seeking a highly competent and ethical Compliance Officer. The role involves designing, implementing and continuously improving the firm’s compliance management program to ensure full adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, license conditions and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive compliance program.
• Monitor compliance with the Securities Act, SEC regulations and licence conditions.
• Track regulatory developments and advise senior management on relevant changes.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections, examinations and prepare required reports.
• Act as the primary liaison with the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulators.
• Oversee governance framework implementation, monitoring and periodic review.
• Ensure policies remain current, effective and aligned with regulatory expectations.
• Design and deliver annual compliance training programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Professional qualification in compliance, governance, risk management, anti‑money laundering or related area is an advantage.
• Membership of a recognised professional body is desirable.
• Excellent communication, relationship management and leadership abilities.
• Minimum five years of experience in compliance, risk, legal, audit or regulatory functions within the financial services sector.
• Experience with investment advisers, asset managers, banks, development finance institutions, securities firms, pension funds or regulators is highly desirable.
• Proven track record of implementing AML/CFT compliance programmes.
