Director – Finance

About the role

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ) seeks a results‑oriented Director of Finance to lead the management of financial resources, stores and assets. Reporting to the Registrar and CEO, the incumbent will ensure prudent utilisation and accountability of public funds.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and implement financial management policies and guidelines.
• Prepare financial reports and statements for stakeholders and statutory compliance.
• Coordinate the annual budgeting process and monitor resource mobilisation.
• Oversee preparation of management accounts for decision‑making.
• Manage income, expenditure and asset registers.
• Ensure timely payroll processing and statutory returns.
• Respond to audit queries and implement corrective actions.
• Invest excess funds to strengthen the Council’s financial base.
• Provide secretariat services to the Finance, Administration and IT Committee.
• Identify and manage financial risk areas.
• Administer donor funds in line with agreements.
• Oversee stores management and departmental performance.

Required profile

• Full Form V or Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Membership of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 4 years in a management role.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
