Director of Risk & Control

About the role

The Director, Risk & Control partners with the Head of Corporate & Investment Banking to lead first‑line operational risk management. This senior position embeds robust controls, governance and an Operational Risk Framework across the business to enhance regulatory compliance and operational resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with country and regional leaders to identify, assess and manage process and operational risks throughout the Corporate & Investment Banking client coverage lifecycle.
• Design, test and monitor first‑line controls, ensuring timely remediation of residual risks.
• Evaluate risk implications of new strategies, product launches, regulatory changes and initiatives from COO and Client Coverage functions.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for operational risk incidents, leading investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Identify emerging and complex risk exposures, proposing enhancements to strengthen controls and operational resilience.
• Promote a strong risk and control culture, supporting training and communication initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in operational risk management within banking or financial services.
• Strong analytical abilities to investigate complex risk challenges and anticipate process failures.
• Proven track record of leading change management and embedding new risk practices.
• Ability to collaborate across operations, compliance, finance and technology teams.
• Commercial acumen in commercial and global banking environments.
