Field Maintenance Manager (Telecoms)

About the role

The Telecoms Field Maintenance Manager will lead all field maintenance activities across Zambia, ensuring network availability, SLA compliance, and high customer satisfaction. You will oversee field engineering teams, subcontractors, and scheduled maintenance programmes while quickly resolving unexpected operational issues.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end field maintenance operations across all Zambian regions to meet SLA and KPI targets.
• Lead, coach and develop field teams and subcontractors, ensuring strict adherence to operational standards.
• Plan, schedule and control all routine field maintenance while handling emergency issues promptly.
• Act as the primary liaison for local customer teams, managing and resolving field maintenance escalations.
• Collaborate with NOC, Network Planning and third‑party teams to maintain seamless network uptime.
• Monitor field delivery quality, drive continuous improvement and track network risks using a structured risk register.

Required profile

• Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Approximately 8 + years of telecommunications experience, including 4 + years in field maintenance management.
• Strong understanding of telecom service delivery procedures and field operations.
• Proven project‑management experience in large‑scale field environments.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication skills and experience handling customer relationships and cross‑functional teams.
• Preference will be given to local candidates.
