Finance and Grants Officer

About the role

The Finance and Grants Officer will manage daily financial operations and grant administration for Action Against Hunger Zambia. Reporting to the Support Services Manager, this role ensures accurate financial data, compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, and effective resource utilization.

Key responsibilities

• Process day‑to‑day financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Prepare, review, and submit accountancy bundles and budget financial updates (BFUs) on time.
• Collaborate with Program Managers, logistics, and administration teams to ensure compliance with procurement and internal control policies.
• Record monthly commitments, recharges, and analytical entries, ensuring correctness.
• Perform bank reconciliations and verify bankbooks before the 5th of each month.
• Set up budgets and accounting parameters in line with organizational policies, IFRS, and Zambian regulations.
• Disseminate accounting procedures and provide guidance to staff across Zambia and country offices.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience in financial management within NGOs or humanitarian organizations.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, donor compliance, and government financial regulations.
• Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and communicate financial information clearly.
