Financial Controller / Management Accountant – QSR Restaurant (Zambia)

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller / Management Accountant to lead finance operations for a fast‑growing quick‑service restaurant (QSR) brand in Zambia. The role will design and implement financial systems, controls, and reporting frameworks to support rapid expansion across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain financial systems, controls, and multi‑branch reporting structures.
• Monitor food cost components (chicken, oil, chips, packaging, sauces, drinks) and analyse variances.
• Prepare weekly branch performance reports covering sales, product mix, food and labour cost percentages, gross and net profit, average transaction value and transaction volume.
• Oversee inventory management, daily stock controls, monthly counts, warehouse oversight and supplier reconciliations.
• Support expansion planning by modelling store profitability, cash‑flow forecasts, capital‑expenditure tracking and ROI analysis for new outlets.
• Implement internal controls, cash and POS reconciliations, delivery‑platform reconciliations and fraud‑prevention measures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in QSR, fast‑food, FMCG or multi‑branch retail environments.
• Strong knowledge of inventory control, food‑cost management, costing, cash controls, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, VAT and ZRA compliance.
• Proven ability to produce multi‑branch financial reports and support high‑growth expansion.

Required skills

• Experience with restaurant POS systems.
• Advanced Excel.
• Power BI or other dashboard reporting tools.
• Proficiency in Sage, Pastel, QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
