Head of Systems & Operations – Zambia

About the role

Reporting to the Country Director, the Head of Systems & Operations will lead the finance, logistics and human resources functions of the Zambia programme. The role ensures that all operational systems are aligned with People in Need’s standards and donor requirements, while building staff capacity across the support departments.

Key responsibilities

• Guarantee that systems and procedures support the Country Strategy and comply with donor and organisational rules.
• Standardise and harmonise processes for finance, HR and logistics.
• Facilitate effective communication between support functions and programme teams.
• Monitor the overall programme economy, identify financial and procedural risks, and propose corrective actions.
• Oversee budgets of support departments, improve needs planning and contribute to budgeting for new projects.
• Provide technical guidance to finance teams on budgeting, drawing and accounting.
• Support logisticians in office management, fleet, procurement, stock and asset management, including logistic budgeting.
• Lead capacity‑building initiatives for staff across finance, HR and logistics.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing finance, HR and logistics functions in an international NGO or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, financial risk management and operational standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with programme and support teams.
• Fluent English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
