Home‑Based Translator Consultant – 36‑Month LTA (UNICEF Zambia)

About the role
UNICEF Zambia is seeking qualified individual translators for a 36‑month Long‑Term Agreement (LTA). The position is home‑based and works on an as‑needed basis, providing translation, editing, proofreading and localisation services for UNICEF communication, advocacy and programme materials.
Key responsibilities
- Translate documents, reports, publications, social media content and training materials between English and one or more of Zambia’s official languages (Bemba, Nyanja, Lozi, Tonga, Kaonde, Luvale, Lunda).
- Edit and proofread translated texts to ensure linguistic accuracy, consistency and cultural relevance.
- Localise content to align with UNICEF standards and target audience needs.
- Provide translation support for programme implementation, advocacy campaigns and community outreach.
- Maintain a pool of translation resources that can be accessed quickly on demand.
Required profile
- Proven experience as a professional translator or language specialist.
- Fluency in English and at least one of the official Zambian languages listed above.
- Familiarity with UNICEF communication standards and guidelines.
- Ability to work independently from a home office and meet deadlines.
