Human Resource & Training Lead

About the role

Meraki is looking for a Human Resource & Training Lead based in Lusaka, Zambia. The role covers recruitment and onboarding, training and development, employee relations, culture and wellbeing, HR compliance and reporting, and works closely with the CEO, COO and branch managers.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit and onboard staff end to end, from job posting to offer letters, keeping job descriptions up to date and building a talent pipeline for key roles.
• Identify training needs, deliver internal and external programmes, run the training calendar, track completion and ROI, and help build a succession planning framework.
• Handle grievances, disciplinary hearings and performance improvement processes in line with Zambian labour law and internal policies, advise line managers, keep confidential records and conduct exit interviews.
• Champion the core values, support the daily devotional and vibe meeting culture, design wellbeing initiatives, run staff recognition programmes and monitor morale.
• Ensure compliance with the Zambian Employment Code Act, maintain the HR policy manual, manage employment contracts, leave and NAPSA/NHIMA registrations, and liaise with legal counsel.
• Produce a monthly HR report to the COO, track key metrics such as turnover and time to hire, and advise on the people implications of growth and restructuring.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources management, Business Administration, Psychology or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of HR generalist experience covering recruitment, employee relations, training and compliance.
• Experience managing disciplinary processes and grievance procedures independently.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving, multi-site organisation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, engaging with staff from kitchen team to CEO.

Required skills

• Solid working knowledge of the Zambian Employment Code Act and related labour legislation.
• Disciplinary and grievance procedure management.
