Internal Mechanical Technical Advisor – Shovels & Excavators

About the role

The Mechanical Technical Advisor provides expert technical and logistical support for Komatsu loading units, ensuring optimal performance, reliability and continuous improvement of shovels and excavators on site.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical guidance and KPI reporting for maintenance and repair teams.
• Lead defect‑elimination initiatives and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Ensure all maintenance follows OEM recommendations and KML change‑management procedures.
• Provide hands‑on training, mentoring and succession planning for the maintenance workforce.
• Support work identification, planning, execution and analysis within the Work Management Process.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Millwright, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience with mobile mining equipment, especially Komatsu PC5500 and PC8000 shovels.
• Strong safety awareness, English communication skills and ability to work independently under pressure.
• Physical capability to handle tools and equipment on site.

Required skills

• Komatsu PC8000E‑11, PC5500E‑6 and PC500‑EX equipment knowledge.
• Hydraulic systems design, components identification, schematics reading and electro‑hydraulic troubleshooting.
• Maintenance of mobile mining equipment, including Caterpillar CAT7495 rope shovels and Liebherr R9250/R9100 excavators.
• KML change‑management procedures and technical service issue (TSI) handling.
