Communication Officer (Temporary, 364 days)

About the role

UNICEF Zambia is looking for a Communication Officer to support advocacy and communications initiatives that raise children’s and women’s issues, and strengthen public and political will for UNICEF’s mission. This fixed‑term position lasts 364 days and is based in Lusaka.

Key responsibilities

• Produce communication products and materials for advocacy campaigns.
• Maintain media relations and liaise with partner groups and organisations.
• Monitor and evaluate the section’s work‑plan activities.
• Update and manage contact lists of individuals, groups and organisations.
• Organise and generate public support for special events and activities that promote country programme goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in communication, print/broadcast media or interactive digital media.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or a local language is an asset.
• Demonstrated commitment to UNICEF’s core values and competencies.
