About the role
UNICEF is seeking an experienced consultant to develop an advocacy manual that will guide persons with disabilities and Organisations for Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in Zambia. The manual will serve as a practical, user‑friendly tool to support strategic advocacy, participation, and inclusion.
Key responsibilities
- Review and update the existing advocacy manual to ensure it is strategic, accessible, and user‑friendly.
- Incorporate national disability legislation, the CRPD, and relevant human‑rights frameworks.
- Simplify legal, policy and technical content into clear guidance for OPDs.
- Develop practical tools such as checklists, toolkits, and training outlines.
- Collaborate with OPDs, government bodies, civil‑society partners and development agencies.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Psychology, Education, Sociology or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in disability inclusion, disability rights, human rights, social inclusion or public policy.
- Proven experience working with OPDs, government institutions, civil‑society or development partners.
- Experience in Zambia or comparable contexts; regional or international experience is a plus.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of disability rights, national disability legislation, the CRPD and related human‑rights frameworks.
- Ability to translate legal and policy content into practical, user‑friendly guidance.
- Experience developing advocacy strategies, campaigns, manuals, toolkits, checklists or training materials.
