Finance and Grants Officer

About the role

The Finance and Grants Officer will manage daily financial transactions and grant administration for Action Against Hunger Zambia. Working under the Support Services Manager, the role ensures accurate budgeting, compliance with donor and government regulations, and effective use of resources.

Key responsibilities

• Process day‑to‑day financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Prepare and submit accountancy bundles, budget forecasts (BFUs) and financial reports on time.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, IFRS standards, and Zambian government regulations.
• Collaborate with program managers, logistics and administration teams to align budgets and procurement procedures.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and verify bankbooks before the 5th of each month.
• Record monthly commitments, recharges and analytical entries.
• Disseminate accounting procedures and provide training to staff across country offices.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and high integrity in handling financial data.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal teams.
• Good understanding of nonprofit financial management and donor compliance.
• Proactive communication skills to share budget methodologies and internal controls.

Required skills

• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Experience with budget preparation and monitoring.
• Bank reconciliation and verification procedures.
• Financial reporting and analytical entry preparation.
