About the role
The Health and Nutrition Specialist provides technical leadership, quality assurance and strategic oversight for integrated health and nutrition interventions, ensuring delivery of evidence‑based, life‑saving services in line with national and international standards. The role supports health system strengthening, nutrition programming and community‑based services for vulnerable groups including children under five, pregnant and lactating women, adolescents, refugees and host communities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight for CMAM/IMAM, MNCH/RMNCH and primary health care interventions.
- Ensure compliance with national IMAM guidelines, SPHERE standards, DG ECHO requirements and MoH protocols.
- Lead design, adaptation and contextualisation of protocols, SOPs and integrated nutrition‑health‑WASH‑protection pathways.
- Supervise health staff, nutrition teams and community health workers, conducting regular field monitoring visits.
- Design and deliver competency‑based training and on‑the‑job coaching for health workers and volunteers.
- Manage supply chain activities including forecasting, procurement planning and stock monitoring of essential medicines and nutrition supplies.
- Oversee data collection and analysis using DHIS2 and CMAM/IMAM databases, tracking key indicators such as SAM recovery rates.
- Represent the organization in health and nutrition cluster meetings and coordinate with MoH, UN agencies and local partners.
Required profile
- Proven experience in health and nutrition programming, preferably in humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
- Familiarity with national and international standards (IMAM, SPHERE, DG ECHO) and Ministry of Health protocols.
- Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams and conducting field monitoring.
- Ability to design and deliver technical training and mentorship.
- Strong knowledge of supply‑chain management for medical and nutrition commodities.
- Experience with monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) systems, especially DHIS2.
- Excellent coordination skills with government, UN agencies and NGOs.
