Social Policy Intern – Child Data & Public Finance (Lusaka)

About the role

The internship supports UNICEF's Social Policy section, specifically the Public Finance Management team, by developing an internal online dashboard that tracks child wellbeing and social‑sector financing in Zambia. You will work with national survey data and budget documents to create a user‑friendly, up‑to‑date visual tool for programme planning, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Compile data from national surveys, budget reports and other relevant sources.
• Clean, organise and validate datasets to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Visualise data using appropriate tools and populate the online dashboard.
• Document data sources and methodology clearly.
• Support UNICEF programme teams with insights for advocacy and policy dialogue.

Required profile

• Graduated within the last two years with a Bachelor’s or Master’s in data analytics, statistics, economics, public finance, public policy, demography, research methods, data science, information systems or a related field.
• Strong academic record.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of a local language is an advantage.
• Excellent communication, research and organisational abilities.
• No immediate relatives working at UNICEF or in the reporting line.
