About the role
We are looking for an International Student Liaison Officer to recruit, support and retain international students throughout their journey, from initial inquiry to graduation. The role involves providing liaison services on admissions, immigration, welfare and cultural integration.
Key responsibilities
- Respond to international inquiries, guide applicants through admissions, and coordinate with the Admissions office on foreign qualification evaluation.
- Advise students on study permits, visas, police clearances and maintain communication with the Department of Immigration, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Arrange airport pickups, accommodation, lead orientation programmes and support cultural integration and personal welfare.
- Act as a link between students and Academic Schools, Finance, Accommodation, Health Centre, as well as parents and sponsors.
- Maintain an accurate international student database, track permit expirations and submit monthly reports to the Registrar.
- Organise events such as International Culture Day, information sessions, embassy visits and student exchange initiatives.
- Manage communication channels (WhatsApp groups, Facebook), represent the university at recruitment fairs and create content for prospective students.
- Monitor academic progress and attendance, providing early intervention and support when needed.
Required profile
- Grade 12 Certificate with 5 credits including English Language.
- Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Education, Business Administration, Social Work, Communications or related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
- 2–3 years of experience in an international student office, admissions, customer relations or embassy/NGO liaison.
- Experience with visa/immigration processes in a higher‑education setting is highly preferred.
- Excellent spoken and written English; fluency in French, Swahili or Portuguese is a strong added advantage.
- Qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
