Lab Technician – Brewing Operations

About the role

The Laboratory Technician will support the brewery by implementing and maintaining microbiological standards across production, packaging and engineering areas. You will work closely with internal teams and external cleaning contractors to ensure hygiene practices prevent contamination and meet product specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Manage interactions with external cleaning contractors and internal stakeholders to optimise hygiene standards.
• Lead the Hygiene Steering Committee, analysing practices and proposing corrective actions.
• Apply Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles to brewing and packaging processes to avoid microbiological infections.
• Report microbiological performance to operators and department heads.
• Develop and revise operating procedures to improve compliance.
• Coordinate with safety functions to align safe and hygienic work practices.
• Conduct audits, surveys and training to close gaps in microbiological standards.
• Audit the microbiology laboratory for compliance with global methodology.
• Identify technology improvements through QA projects that enhance microbiological compliance.
• Oversee Supplier Partnering Program (SPP) activities related to hygiene performance.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of microbiological processes in a production environment.
• Experience with GMP and hygiene standards in food‑or‑beverage manufacturing.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and facilitate problem‑solving.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting and training.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
