Bank Clerk – Cash Operations & Customer Service

About the role

The Bank Clerk will handle cash and cheque transactions, ensure accurate recording of deposits and withdrawals, and provide frontline customer service in a banking environment. This role requires strict adherence to the client’s policies and procedures to maintain cash control and security.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cash and cheque deposits, ensuring accounts are credited correctly.
• Verify withdrawal vouchers, authorise payments, and dispense cash to customers within prescribed limits.
• Capture daily transactions in the banking system and ensure all vouchers are signed and authorised.
• Reconcile cash registers with the General Ledger and resolve any discrepancies.
• Secure keys, cash, and other accountable items at all times.
• Provide first‑line customer contact, explain products, handle complaints, and record feedback.
• Maintain filing systems for customer records and prepare banking slips and returns.
• Process payments, manage petty cash, and ensure all vouchers are properly authorised.

Required profile

• ZAQA‑verified Diploma or Degree in Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in a banking or financial services environment.
• Membership of the Zambia Institute of Banking and Financial Services (preferred).
• Clean police record and TransUnion Zambia credit record.
