Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Financial Services

About the role

Our client, a growing financial institution in Zambia, is seeking a dynamic Chief Executive Officer to steer the organization through its next phase of growth and transformation. The CEO will provide strategic leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance market position within the financial services sector.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the institution’s vision, mission and long‑term objectives.
• Oversee daily operations to drive efficiency, profitability and sustainability.
• Ensure full compliance with Bank of Zambia regulations and other applicable laws.
• Lead financial performance management, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
• Strengthen risk management, internal controls and corporate governance frameworks.
• Build and maintain relationships with regulators, shareholders, investors and key stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop a high‑performing executive management team.
• Drive innovation, business growth and market expansion initiatives.
• Represent the institution at high‑level industry, government and public engagements.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration or related field (MBA or equivalent preferred).
• Professional qualification such as ZICA, ACCA or CIMA is an advantage.
• Minimum five years’ senior leadership or executive management experience in a financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of Zambia’s financial services regulatory environment.
• Proven experience in strategic planning, financial management and corporate governance.

Required skills

• Good understanding of IFRS – International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Good understanding of IAS – International Accounting Standards.
