Compliance Specialist

About the role

The Compliance Specialist will support the Environmental Management team by providing advice on environmental requirements, developing procedures, and ensuring compliance with Zambian regulations and corporate standards. This role involves close interaction with internal stakeholders, contractors, and government authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and conduct internal inspections and audits, and coordinate closure of non‑compliances.
• Audit contractors and suppliers for environmental compliance.
• Investigate environmental incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain a corrective‑action tracking system.
• Engage with government inspectors, community members, and contractors on compliance matters.
• Deliver EMS awareness activities to employees and contractors.
• Update the environmental legal register and provide feedback to management.
• Coordinate statutory reporting, permit applications, bi‑annual returns, and EIA documentation.
• Monitor implementation of the Environmental Management Plan and report on the Environmental Protection Fund.
• Support emergency preparedness planning and response.
• Review environmental monitoring data to verify compliance.
• Lead housekeeping and waste‑management awareness campaigns.
