Biodiversity Finance Analyst – Public and Financial Sector

About the role

The Biodiversity Finance Analyst will support the implementation of the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) in Zambia, helping to bridge finance gaps for biodiversity conservation. The role focuses on public and private sector financing, green finance taxonomy development, and delivering evidence‑based recommendations to national authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct financial analysis and assessments to identify biodiversity financing needs and opportunities.
• Support the development and implementation of Zambia’s Biodiversity Finance Plan and Green Finance Taxonomy.
• Collaborate with the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, Ministry of Finance, and private‑sector stakeholders to design scalable financing solutions.
• Prepare and present reports, policy briefs, and monitoring tools for biodiversity finance initiatives.
• Facilitate stakeholder workshops and capacity‑building activities related to finance mechanisms.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in finance, economics, environmental studies, or a related field (or Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience).
• Demonstrated experience in biodiversity finance, public finance, or green finance projects.
• Strong understanding of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) framework and national finance systems.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and oral.
