Finance and Grants Officer

About the role

The Finance and Grants Officer will manage the day‑to‑day financial transactions and budgeting for Action Against Hunger’s Zambia operations. Working under the Support Services Manager, the role ensures accurate financial data, compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, and effective use of resources.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily financial transactions, record commitments, and process recharges.
• Prepare and submit accurate accountancy bundles and budget forecasts on schedule.
• Perform bank reconciliations and verify bankbooks before the 5th of each month.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, IFRS, and Zambian government regulations.
• Collaborate with Program Managers, logistics, and administration teams to align budgeting and procurement processes.
• Disseminate accounting procedures and provide guidance to staff across country offices.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Proven experience in financial management within an NGO or humanitarian setting.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, IFRS, and local financial regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and senior management.

Required skills

• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Experience with bank reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in budgeting and financial analysis.
