General Ledger Supervisor

About the role

The General Ledger Supervisor will manage end‑to‑end ledger accounting for a manufacturing operation, ensuring accurate monthly financial reporting, tax compliance and timely bank reconciliations. The role also includes training junior accountants, coordinating internal and external affairs, and preparing audit documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide monthly financial reports for the company.
• Ensure accurate tax data in tax returns and the financial system.
• Complete VAT and withholding tax reconciliations.
• Submit VAT, withholding tax, NAPSA and NHIMA declarations on time.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements.
• Check daily expense payments and staff salary payments.
• Train and guide accountants in daily financial work.
• Assist managers with internal and external affairs.
• Coordinate with external audit firms and supply required financial documents.
• Perform other tasks assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Taxation, Financial Management or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of full‑cycle finance and general ledger experience in a manufacturing environment; Zambian or African factory experience preferred.
• Proficient written and spoken English, capable of independent communication with local tax, bank and audit institutions.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel functions and financial accounting systems; able to complete full‑set accounting and basic tax declarations.
• Professional certifications such as ZICA, ACCA or intermediate accountant level are advantageous; familiarity with Zambian tax and social security processes is a strong plus.
