Heavy Duty Mechanic – Mining Maintenance

About the role

Lumwana Mining Company is looking for a motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic to join its versatile maintenance team, ensuring reliable operation of mining equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and diagnose faults in heavy earth‑moving equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, adjust, repair, test equipment and ensure work meets manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used and time taken, and produce service reports.
• Read and interpret hydraulic schematic diagrams and electrical circuits to guide repairs.
• Schedule and execute planned maintenance tasks to achieve cost‑effective equipment performance.

Required profile

• Grade 12 Certificate and a Craft Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair or equivalent.
• Minimum two years’ experience maintaining heavy earth‑moving equipment in mining or construction.
• Knowledge of construction, design, assembly and maintenance of a wide variety of heavy equipment.
• Good communication skills, self‑motivated and innovative.
