Superintendent - Operational Efficiency

About the role

Lumwana Mining Company is seeking a highly motivated Superintendent to drive operational efficiency across the site. This hands‑on, field‑based position will lead productivity improvement programmes, analyse performance data and work closely with multiple departments to deliver measurable gains.

Key responsibilities

• Lead site‑wide efficiency and productivity improvement programmes targeting loading efficiency, truck/equipment queuing, hang time, cycle times and fleet utilisation.
• Work with Dispatch to support real‑time decision‑making for maximum equipment utilisation and minimum delay.
• Direct the Analytics team in collecting and interpreting operational, GPS/GNSS and fleet‑management data to identify performance issues and opportunities.
• Use geospatial data (GPS fleet tracking, haul‑road layouts, heat maps) to pinpoint bottlenecks and inefficient traffic patterns.
• Design, launch and monitor structured reduction programmes with clear targets, owners and timelines.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Processing and Finance to ensure initiatives are practical, adopted and sustained.
• Track key KPIs (utilisation, availability, cycle time, queue time, hang time, productivity) and report performance to site leadership.
• Translate efficiency gains into quantified business value and ensure realisation.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis on recurring losses and lead corrective actions.
• Develop standard reporting, dashboards and visual‑management tools for operational visibility.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mining or heavy‑industry operations with a focus on productivity improvement.
• Hands‑on, field‑based mindset with the ability to work across multiple departments.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, including root‑cause analysis.
• Leadership experience managing analytics or data‑driven teams.
• Ability to communicate results and business value to senior leadership.
