Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) Manager

About the role

The Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) Manager will lead the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the Lumwana copper mine’s tailings storage system. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role carries full accountability as the Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer (RTFE) under Barrick’s Tailings Management Standard.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the RTFE for all operational and closure phases of the Lumwana TSF.
• Maintain productive relationships with the Engineer of Record (EoR) and guide design and QA teams.
• Ensure TSF construction, operation and monitoring meet design intent, Zambian regulations, GISTM 2020 and Barrick standards.
• Oversee the Operation, Maintenance and Surveillance (OMS) Manual and train personnel.
• Lead routine inspections, dam safety reviews and third‑party assessments.
• Manage the Corrective Action Plan (CAP) registry and resolve priority items.
• Conduct Potential Failure Mode Analysis (PFMA) and maintain Critical Controls Management Plans.
• Monitor quantitative performance objectives such as freeboard, beach width and embankment rise.
• Maintain water‑balance and tailings deposition models.
• Ensure the Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) is current and tested.
• Control Management of Change (MoC) processes for design deviations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in tailings facility engineering or similar mining infrastructure management.
• Strong knowledge of Zambian mining regulations and international tailings standards (GISTM).
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
• Commitment to safety, zero‑harm culture and sustainable legacy building.
