Technical Coach – Engineering Support Skills

About the role

First Quantum is seeking a Technical Coach to provide on‑the‑job coaching, training and technical oversight for artisans and tradesmen supporting the Kansanshi Smelter operations. The role focuses on building capability, ensuring compliance and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to health, safety, environment, quality, finance and HR regulations and engineering codes.
• Deliver on‑the‑job coaching and formal training modules in partnership with the KMP Training Department.
• Prepare and deliver training materials to address identified skill gaps.
• Provide visible leadership on the shop floor, support fault diagnosis and corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Assess learner performance, identify gaps, design interventions and monitor impact using the Proficiency Framework.
• Act as an independent assessor for proficiency programmes across First Quantum sites.
• Identify high‑potential artisans and support their career progression.
• Record interventions and report on effectiveness, collaborating with the training department to refine needs.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of engineering codes, safety standards and compliance requirements.
• Ability to role‑model best practices and create a continuous learning environment.
• Excellent listening, questioning and assertiveness to engage learners.
• Experience in assessing skills, delivering coaching and tracking development outcomes.
• Proactive attitude towards feedback, improvement and cultural leadership.
