About the role
The Underground SRT Technician will support Sandvik's Rock Tool Supply Performance Contract by delivering, retrieving, and refurbishing rock tools at underground mining sites. The role is based at NFCA, Chambeshi and follows a 4‑days‑on, 4‑days‑off schedule with 12‑hour shifts.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver rock tools and related products to designated underground sites daily.
- Retrieve worn or damaged tools from drill sites and transport them for assessment.
- Analyze tool condition, discuss findings with operators, and suggest improvements.
- Maintain circuit stock levels by replenishing supplies from the buffer store.
- Conduct failure analyses, report abnormalities, and record data using the Sandvik Report App.
- Perform sorting, gauging, cutting, grinding, color‑coding, and straightening of drill bits and rods.
Required profile
- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
- Craft Certificate of Competence, Advanced Technician Certificate or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in underground rock‑tool servicing.
- Legal right to work in Zambia and a valid manual driver’s licence.
- Full physical and medical clearance for mining environments.
Required skills
- Mechanical failure analysis of rock tools.
- Refurbishment techniques: grinding, cutting, straightening.
- Stock management and inventory replenishment.
- Use of specialized reporting software (Sandvik Report App).
- Basic computer literacy.
