Artisan Rigger

About the role

The Artisan Rigger is responsible for all lifting, transporting and rigging tasks at the Kansanshi Mining Smelter, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and supporting maintenance activities to meet production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute rigging activities to the highest standards, supporting plant and equipment maintenance.
• Draw up lift plans, inspect lifting gear, and ensure equipment meets safe operating standards.
• Interpret mobile crane load charts, select appropriate cranes, and perform tandem lifts when required.
• Secure loads on low‑bed and flat‑bed trucks safely.
• Enforce compliance with JSA’s, safe work procedures and housekeeping standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience as an Artisan Rigger in a mining or plant environment.
• Craft Certificate in Rigging and Load Shifting, member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia, certified by ZAQA.
• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and in noisy, dusty environments.

Required skills

• Operation and inspection of overhead cranes, mobile cranes, hoists, winches and lifting gear.
• Interpretation of crane load charts and lift planning.
• Safe loading and securing of truck loads.
• Conducting statutory inspections and reporting non‑conformities.
