Finance and Grants Officer

About the role

The Finance and Grants Officer will manage daily financial transactions and budget processes for Action Against Hunger Zambia. Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the role ensures accurate accounting, compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, and supports program and logistics teams.

Key responsibilities

• Execute day‑to‑day financial transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare and submit accountancy bundles and budget financial updates (BFUs) on time.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, IFRS standards, and Zambian government regulations.
• Collaborate with program managers, logistics, and administration to align budgeting and procurement processes.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and verify bankbooks before the 5th of each month.
• Record monthly commitments, recharges, and analytical entries accurately.
• Disseminate accounting procedures and provide guidance to staff across Zambia and country offices.

Required profile

• Experience in finance or accounting within an NGO or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of donor financial guidelines and governmental regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and maintain high integrity.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and timely reporting.
