Finance and Grants Officer

About the role

The Finance and Grants Officer will manage daily financial transactions and budget execution for Action Against Hunger Zambia. Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the role ensures accurate accounting, compliance with donor and internal policies, and supports program delivery across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Process and record all financial transactions, including payments, receipts, and journal entries.
• Prepare and submit accurate accountancy bundles and budget forecasts on schedule.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and verify bank statements before the 5th of each month.
• Maintain and monitor commitments, recharges, and analytical entries to ensure correctness.
• Collaborate with program managers, logistics, and administration teams to ensure compliance with procurement and internal control procedures.
• Ensure adherence to IFRS, government regulations, and donor guidelines.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably within the nonprofit or humanitarian sector.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Attention to detail and high integrity in handling organizational resources.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and share financial knowledge.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IFRS and donor financial regulations.
• Proficiency in bank reconciliation and budget management.
• Familiarity with accounting software and standard office tools.
