Finance and Grants Officer

About the role

The Finance and Grants Officer will manage daily financial transactions and support budget oversight for Action Against Hunger Zambia. Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the role ensures accurate accounting, compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, and effective use of resources.

Key responsibilities

• Process day‑to‑day financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Prepare and submit timely accountancy bundles and budget forecasts (BFUs).
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and verify bankbooks before the 5th of each month.
• Record monthly commitments, recharges, and analytical entries.
• Collaborate with program managers, logistics, and administration teams to ensure compliance with procurement and internal control policies.
• Ensure adherence to IFRS, donor guidelines, and Zambian government regulations.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in finance, accounting, or grants management, preferably in the nonprofit or humanitarian sector.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and donor compliance.
• Attention to detail and high standards of integrity and accountability.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IFRS and donor financial regulations.
• Proficiency in budgeting and financial analysis.
• Experience with bank reconciliation and accounting software.
