Financial Crime Compliance Head

About the role

The Financial Crime Compliance Head will lead Zanaco Bank's Financial Crime Compliance function. The role involves planning, managing, monitoring and reporting on activities that prevent, detect and mitigate financial crime risks, while providing strategic and operational guidance to business units, branches and the wider compliance network.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess, monitor and report on financial crime compliance risks across the bank and ensure emerging legislation is captured in the Regulatory Obligations Register.
• Promote a strong compliance culture through targeted training, regular communication and advisory support to business units and committees.
• Oversee the development, maintenance and implementation of policies, standards and procedures for AML, CFT, CPF, sanctions and customer due diligence.
• Lead the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of compliance controls, ensuring business units understand their obligations.
• Maintain an effective network of Compliance Representatives across branches, providing training, guidance and support.
• Oversee transaction monitoring, sanctions list updates, alert review, escalation of suspicious activity and quality assurance of STRs and CTRs.
• Serve as the bank’s subject‑matter expert on financial crime compliance risks.

Required profile

• Significant experience in financial crime compliance, AML/CFT, sanctions and customer due diligence within a banking environment.
• Proven ability to lead senior‑level compliance initiatives and influence business units.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and emerging legislation related to financial crime.
