Head of Finance

About the role

Alistair, a fast‑growing logistics and equipment services group operating across East and Southern Africa, is seeking a Head of Finance to lead its finance function in the country. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of financial management, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic support for continued expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all finance activities including treasury, payroll, general accounting, taxation, internal controls, audit and cost control.
• Manage month‑end close, validate balances, reconcile trips and ensure timely postings.
• Prepare financial reports, annual budgets, bi‑annual forecasts, monthly management accounts and weekly cash‑flow statements.
• Lead statutory audits and ensure audited financials are signed off within deadlines.
• Act as primary contact for revenue authorities, handling tax queries and audits.
• Develop and enforce finance, procurement and administration policies and internal controls.
• Manage and develop a finance team of 2+ staff, fostering retention and performance.
• Stay updated on financial regulations and ensure group policies are applied consistently.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or business administration (accountancy qualification a plus).
• Minimum five years of relevant industry experience and at least three years in a managerial finance role.
• International exposure and strong communication, leadership and self‑motivation.
• Detail‑oriented, resilient under pressure, proactive and ethical.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
