Head of Finance

About the role

Alistair, a fast‑growing service company operating across East and Southern Africa, is seeking a Head of Finance to lead its finance function for the Group’s operations in the country. The role will oversee all financial accounting, treasury, payroll, tax and audit activities while supporting the company’s ambitious expansion plans.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full spectrum of finance activities including treasury, payroll, general accounting, taxation, internal controls, audit and cost control.
• Ensure a smooth month‑end close, validate balances, reconcile trips and meet all posting schedules.
• Prepare accurate financial reports, budgets, forecasts, management accounts and cash‑flow statements within defined deadlines.
• Lead annual statutory audits and act as the primary liaison with revenue authorities.
• Develop and enforce finance, procurement and administration policies and internal controls.
• Supervise and develop a team of at least two finance professionals, fostering retention of top talent.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance across all financial processes.
• Coordinate data transmission to FP&A and the Group Head of Finance for consolidated reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or business administration; professional accounting qualification is a plus.
• Minimum five years of relevant industry experience, including at least three years in a managerial finance role.
• International exposure and the ambition to drive growth in a dynamic, young company.
• Strong communication, leadership and self‑motivation.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
