Junior Metallurgist

About the role

First Quantum is seeking a Junior Metallurgist to join its process team. You will support plant performance monitoring, data collection, and reporting while ensuring metallurgical parameters meet design specifications with a focus on safety, productivity, quality and cost.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to plant operations and assist senior metallurgists.
• Collect and analyse plant data from control system historians and sampling activities.
• Coordinate laboratory and plant test work to optimise front‑end and back‑end processes.
• Conduct circuit surveys and report findings to senior metallurgists.
• Support the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly metallurgy reports.
• Identify improvement opportunities and drive their implementation.
• Act as a liaison between metallurgists and metallurgical technicians.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in mineral processing plants.
• Strong leadership, motivation and ownership mindset.
• Ability to work under pressure in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Understanding of metallurgical information, process improvement and control strategies.
• Analytical ability to identify process bottlenecks and conduct metallurgical tests.
• Proficiency in preparing clear operational performance reports.
