Senior Process Control Specialist – Operations

About the role

First Quantum is seeking a senior process control specialist to optimise the performance of the Sentinel copper concentrator plant. Reporting to the Optimization Superintendent, you will lead data‑driven improvements, advanced control strategies and AI integration.

Key responsibilities

• Perform in‑depth data analysis to identify and prioritise process improvement opportunities.
• Develop, tune and maintain base‑layer and expert controllers to enhance plant stability.
• Design and deploy adaptive control strategies, soft sensors and AI applications for real‑time monitoring and predictive decision‑making.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional, IT and automation teams to ensure seamless integration of new technologies.
• Coach and mentor local staff, delivering training on the latest process‑control methodologies.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in process control engineering within a copper or nickel sulphide concentrator or similar mineral‑processing environment.
• Strong understanding of metallurgical operations, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and process‑control disciplines.
• Proven ability to lead projects, communicate technical concepts and work autonomously under pressure.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, Process Control or related engineering field.
