Finance and Grants Officer

About the role

Action Against Hunger is seeking a Finance and Grants Officer to manage daily financial operations and grant administration for its Zambia programme. Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the officer will ensure accurate financial reporting, budget compliance and adherence to donor and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Process day‑to‑day financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Prepare and submit accountancy bundles and budget financial updates (BFUs) on time.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and verify bankbooks before the 5th of each month.
• Record monthly commitments, recharges and analytical entries.
• Set up budgets and accounting parameters in the financial system.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, IFRS, Zambian government regulations and donor guidelines.
• Collaborate with program managers, logistics and administration teams to align financial and procurement processes.
• Disseminate accounting procedures and promote high standards of integrity and accountability.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of financial management in an NGO or humanitarian context.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal teams and external partners.
• Attention to detail and commitment to compliance and transparency.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IFRS and donor financial reporting standards.
